Lance and I decided that the PCV-based body would be difficult to move without considerable motors as each 4-inch diameter 40-schedule PVC pipe was ~4.5 kg. Instead, we will use just the foamular sheets. Multiple hulls are desired for stability; we are planning to build a catamaran where one foamular sheet is supported by two narrower pontoons. Both pontoons will be pointed with rounded edges that extend to both layers. These points are expected to aid considerably in cutting through the water. The body will be 4’ by 5’, and 4-inches thick where both layers present.

The top layer of foam was cut. We took it to the nearby Oso water for a float test. We filled a pipe with saltwater so that the pipe weighed ~14 kg. It barely affected the foam sheet. Based on how little the waterline rose, we estimated that it would easily hold double and more.
